Milton Town Meeting approved more than $1 million in funding for 11 distinct community projects under Article 31, following recommendations from the Community Preservation Committee (CPC). CPC Chair Tom Callahan reported that since Milton voters adopted the Community Preservation Act (CPA) in 2020, the town has awarded nearly $5 million to 50 projects. The current round of funding, totaling $1,051,823, was selected from 13 applications.
The approved projects span open space, recreation, and historic preservation. Key highlights include the restoration of Pine Grove at Winter Valley, improvements to the Tucker School playground, and the construction of a combined bocce and basketball court in the Town Center. The Tucker School playground project follows previous successes in securing state funding, including $150,000 recently reported by Senator Bill Driscoll for the same site.
Motion: That the town vote to appropriate to approve the projects, funding sources, and amounts shown in the tabulation as printed in the warrant under the heading CPA project funding recommendations.
