Article 29, which provides $500,000 for Milton Access TV (MATV) through the PEG Access Enterprise Fund, passed overwhelmingly after a discussion regarding the shifting landscape of media consumption. The funding is drawn from franchise fees paid by cable providers Comcast and RCN, rather than the general tax levy. However, Town Administrator Nicholas Milano warned that this revenue stream is under threat as more residents move to internet-only services. As people cut their cable accounts, that has a corresponding effect in terms of the amount of revenue that will bring in, Milano said, calling it a coming issue for us fiscally.

Precinct 4 Member Deborah Milbower spoke in impassioned support of the station, arguing that MATV is essential for local transparency. With no exaggeration, Milton's democratic process could not function without Milton Access TV, Milbower stated. Democracy dies in darkness. She urged the community to support state legislation that would allow the town to tax streaming services to modernize funding for community media.

Motion: That the town vote to appropriate $500,000 from the Peg Access Enterprise Fund for fiscal year 2027 cable related purposes consistent with the town's franchise agreements.
