Town Meeting approved $1,051,823 for 11 diverse projects under the Community Preservation Act (CPA) through Article 31. The projects span historic preservation, recreation, and open space. Among the approved items are the restoration of the Winter Valley Pine Grove, a new playground for the Tucker School, and the creation of bocce and basketball courts in the Town Center.
The appropriation also includes funds to improve access to the Neponset River Estuary. The CPA committee’s recommendations were met with broad support, with members highlighting the importance of using dedicated tax surcharges to maintain the town’s recreational assets and historical character. Only four members voted against the package of projects.
