CPC Proposes $1 Million Renovation for Wharf Park and Landing
Key Points
- The Wharf Park project is estimated to cost $1 million.
- Funding will come from the CPC and private fundraising, not the general tax levy.
- The plan includes improving water access and facilities for the farmers market.
Article 32 presents a plan to revitalize Wharf Park using Community Preservation Committee (CPC) funds. The project, estimated to cost approximately $1 million, aims to transform the landing into a more open and welcoming space for community gatherings, music, and the local farmers market.
Warrant Committee Chair Jay Funling clarified that the project will not impact the town’s general operating budget, as the CPC will borrow the funds and repay the loan using its dedicated revenue stream from property tax surcharges and state matches. Approximately one-quarter of the project's cost is expected to be covered by private fundraising efforts. The vision is to make the landing more open and welcoming for people to enjoy access to the water,
Funling said.
